Disney For Grownups

Have you ever secretly dreamed about a Disney vacation without kids? My husband and I just returned from a long weekend trip. Disney offers many activities only for grownups.

Victoria and Alberts

Only 10 restaurants in the US can claim they have been listed on AAA Awards Five Diamond List for 14 consecutive years. Victoria and Albert’s located in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa does it again this year! Eating at the restaurant is a once in a lifetime experience. Victoria and Albert’s wows it’s guests with menus using the finest ingredients and an expert service staff.  The restaurant offers three dining experiences: the dining room, the elegant Queen Victoria Room and the Chef’s Table in the kitchen. The Dining room is $135 per person for six courses and $65 for wine pairings. The Chef’s Table and Queen Victoria Room are $210 per person for 10 courses and $105 for wine pairings. I have booked many special evenings for parents while on vacation. While the parents enjoy an evening to themselves, the kids can enjoy the Neverland Club located in Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

Disney Bars and Lounges

jellyrollsWith the closure of Pleasure Island, Disney lost some of it’s nightlife for adults only. While I will always miss the Adventure’s Club  (still crossing my fingers that it will someday be re-created), Disney gives it’s guests some great options for nightly entertainment. Next time you are on vacation place the kids in one of the resort’s kid’s clubs and sit back and relax. Many of the bars and lounges offer a limited menu so feel free to have a late night snack as well. My personal favorite is the Tambu Lounge located in the Polynesian. Stop by and pick up a Lapu Lapu then head to the beach.  The white sand is cool and you might be lucky enough to find an empty hammock.  There is no better place to watch the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom. Many lounges offer nightly live entertainment. Check with your resort concierge for more information. Jellyrolls is always a favorite, especially it’s dueling pianos. Make sure to get there early, by 9pm it is standing room only.

There are still many other options too, romantic carriage rides, rounds of golf, fishing, boat rentals, surfing lessons and fast cars on speedways.  Or you can just do what we did. Sit by the pool with a cold drink soaking up the Florida sun.
